The BLOAT Survey is now closed.
A big thank you to everyone who has taken part.
Early Statistical Overview (December 2013)
Dr Cathryn Mellersh writes from the Animal Health Trust:-
We have surveys for 1,956 dogs from 1,098 owners.
1,703 dogs are currently alive & 251 are dead.
886 males and 1,068 females.
This represents a response rate of roughly 15%.
The prevalence of bloat among the survey respondents is approximately 13% (this includes bloating without GDV i.e. resolved without surgery or death).
It is hopeful that this amount of data should be sufficient to detect heritability.
Obviously we will provide a full analysis in due course, once we have had a chance to analyse the data fully.
